Welcome

The new school year is off to an exciting start at ThrivePoint Arizona!

Over the past few months, our campuses have been busy preparing for and welcoming students back, strengthening community connections, and creating new opportunities for students to learn and explore their interests.

As we look toward the months ahead, we are excited to continue building on this momentum with career exploration, community service, school spirit, and hands-on learning experiences.

Community Highlights

Preparing for a New School Year

July was a busy month of preparation as ThrivePoint staff came together for our annual New Year Kick-Off.

Staff from across Arizona participated in three days of professional development, collaboration, and preparation for the upcoming school year. This time together helped our teams build connections, share ideas, and prepare to give students the support they need throughout the year.

Our Yuma team also connected with the local community during a Back-to-School Rodeo, where staff had the opportunity to speak with community members about ThrivePoint and the educational opportunities available to Arizona students.

Welcoming Students Back 64

On August 12, our Campus Connected students returned to campus for the first day of school! We were excited to welcome both new and returning students as they began new courses, met their teachers, and reconnected with their campus communities.

Each campus kicked off the year with engaging icebreakers designed to help students get comfortable, make connections, and build a welcoming environment from the very beginning of the school year.

Our campuses also hosted successful Open Houses, welcoming families through our doors to meet staff, explore their campus, and learn more about the year ahead. We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the start of the school year so positive.

Science in Action

September has brought hands-on learning experiences to campuses across ThrivePoint!

Mr. Weinberg has been leading physics labs at each campus, giving students the opportunity to explore physics concepts through hands-on experiments using ramps and Hot Wheels cars. These activities allow students to see classroom concepts in action while encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, and scientific thinking.

Ms. Stokes has also been bringing science to life through lava lamp experiments focused on chemical reactions and the properties of mixed materials. Students have been able to explore scientific concepts while also learning about laboratory safety and making observations throughout the experiments.

These Science Days give students an opportunity to learn by doing, ask questions, and experience science in an engaging and memorable way.

Building Community Connections

Our Surprise LCC, Ms. Cunningham, and Union Hills LCC, Ms. Brande, joined Outreach Coordinator Ms. Sheryl for a visit to Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Center. The team had the opportunity to introduce the organization to ThrivePoint, share more about our schools and students, and discuss potential opportunities for future collaboration.

We are excited about the possibilities that come from connecting with organizations that share our commitment to providing young people with meaningful opportunities, resources, and experiences.

Academic Updates & Highlights

The first learning period is well underway, and students are settling into their courses, getting to know new teachers, and reconnecting with returning staff.

ThrivePoint students are currently working across 3,061 active courses during this first learning period. This is an exciting reflection of the learning and progress taking place across our campuses as students begin the new school year.

We are looking forward to seeing students continue to grow academically while also discovering new interests and opportunities throughout the year.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events & Opportunities

October:

Next Big Steps — College & Career Fairs

October will bring exciting opportunities for students to begin exploring their Next Big Steps after high school.

Each campus will host a College & Career Fair where students can connect directly with representatives from:

  • Local community colleges

  • Trade schools

  • Military branches

  • Local hiring businesses

  • Entrepreneurs and professionals from a variety of fields

These events are designed to help students learn about the many pathways available after graduation and begin making connections that can help shape their future.

Our First Spirit Week!

We're also excited to celebrate our first Spirit Week of the school year! Students and staff will have opportunities to show their school spirit, connect with one another, and have some fun on campus.

We are looking forward to creating even more school spirit events throughout the year!

Whether you’re a returning family or exploring ThrivePoint for the first time, our team will be here to help you feel prepared and confident for the year ahead. We can’t wait to welcome you and your family!

November:

Beginning November 2, all ThrivePoint campuses will participate in a canned food drive benefiting St. Vincent de Paul.

Our Learning Center Coordinators will also participate in an all-day community service outing as part of our LCC Community Give Back initiative. This will be an opportunity for our LCCs to step outside the campuses and give their time to support the communities we serve.

December:

Holiday Spirit & Winter Break

December will bring another opportunity to celebrate with a holiday-themed Spirit Week! We look forward to creating a festive atmosphere across our campuses as students and staff enjoy the final weeks of the year together.

Then, beginning December 21, we'll head into a well-deserved winter break. It will be a great opportunity to rest, recharge, and celebrate the accomplishments of the first half of the school year.
