It has been a very busy week at the ThrivePoint Surprise campus! On Thursday November 18th, two staff members from Ottawa University (located right down the street from us) came to visit our afternoon session class. We met with Lauren Frazier, the theatre program manager, and Eric Brown, an enrollment advisor. Our team originally met this duo at the Building Communities Festival hosted by the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce last week, and it was so great to learn about each other’s programs with the similar goal of supporting students as they continue their education in the next steps of life!
Many of our students here are underclassmen and are still undecided about what their life after high school will look like. Lauren and Eric asked each of the students what they want to do when they grow up, and shared how a college degree can benefit their success in the workforce—or at least be a great backup plan to fall on someday! In addition, they also explained how the enrollment process works, scholarship opportunities, and the unique clubs and extracurricular activities the university offers. They even offered our students the opportunity to bring their families by for a personal tour of the Ottawa campus! The kids were completely engaged in the conversation and asked questions for over an hour. Afterwards, Lauren and Eric shared some great Ottawa freebies and goodies with the class. We all really enjoyed the presentation and we can’t wait to have them back during second semester!
