The ThrivePoint High School campus in Surprise ended the month on November in a fun and festive way! On Tuesday November 23rd, we hosted a fall themed Harvest Festival during our afternoon session. The turnout was fantastic, and students from all 3 sessions and our remote workers showed up to join in on the fun! Some students even brought along some friends from other schools in the area.
Our first activity of the day was a scarecrow building contest! Students had a variety of materials including feathers, buttons, glitter, popsicle sticks, and cotton balls to decorate their very own scarecrow. They all turned out great, and we love the festive fall decoration it adds to our computer lab.
Next up was turkey bowling. Each student made their own bowling pins out of construction paper and decorated it with eyes, feathers, a beak, and anything else they desired. We lined the pins up and gave students a ball to see how many pins they could knock down!
The students’ favorite part of the party was definitely the food! They enjoyed a build your own nacho bar (complete with all the toppings) cookies, candy, and many different yummy sugary drinks. To end their meal, we got to try Ms. Gorman’s homemade mixed berry cobbler with French vanilla ice cream!
We had such a fun time kicking off our Thanksgiving holiday with our students and teachers. It was so special to see some of our quieter, more introverted students come out of their shell to play games and have fun with classmates. We are so thankful for all of them had the best day celebrating and making new friends!
